Our Three Pillars
PILLAR I: HIGHER EDUCATION
In the 2017-2018 academic school year, the Coachella Valley Unified School District was comprised of 18,372 students from K-12. During the 2017-2018 school year, only 39.5% of CVUSD high school graduates met UC and/or CSU Course Requirements. This means that over half of high school graduates did not meet UC and/or CSU requirements.
In order to provide high school students with the necessary tools needed to attend a UC, CSU, private, vocational, or trade School, ECV for Change will help Tees develop an academic plan that include A-G requirements and the mandatory courses needed to graduate on time.
Additionally, throughout the mentorship program, students will work with their Tors to identify different career options that are available to them.
PILLAR II: LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT
To prepare the future leaders of tomorrow, ECV for Change will require Tees to participate in at least one club, either in school or outside of, during their time in the mentorship program.
To develop their leadership skills, ECV for Change will encourage students to apply to at least one internship program during their time in the mentorship program.
In addition, ECV for Change will host leadership development functions that will provide Tees with opportunities to engage with other students, enhance leadership skills, and become active participants in school and outside of.
PILLAR III: CIVIC ENGAGEMENT
ECV for Change started with an idea to help students in the Eastern Coachella Valley thrive in and outside of school. In order to stay true to our vision of giving back, Tees are required to host a community event — whether that is a beautification day in school or a cultural event in their community.
Additionally, Tees are responsible for completing 20 service hours during the duration of their mentorship year.
